‘The Ginger Ninja’ has been confirmed to be boxing on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Champions Elect’ bill at the National Stadium on Saturday October 7th, and here he will box for the BUI Celtic super middleweight title.

Blaney will fight tough Frenchman Matiouze Royer [17(4)-30(5)-6] over eight rounds for the belt. ‘The Tank’ hails from Bayonne in the Basque country.

A game away fighter, Royer gave former European champion Christopher Rebrasse a tough fight recently and has also gone the six-round distance with upcoming WBSS participant Jamie Cox and reigning European middleweight champion Emanuele Blandamura as well as reaching the final of the Tournoi De France.

The fight will be the Navan man’s fourth on a Red Corner bill having secured knockout wins over Gabor Zsalek and Adrian Palogea before outpointing BBBoC Central Area champ Darryl Sharp over six in June in what was his toughest test to date.

However, the Ricky Hatton-trained Blaney can’t get ahead of himself and must first get through his eighth professional fight on September 1st in Walsall

The ‘Champions Elect’ card also features Irish champion Paddy McDonagh, debutant Karl Kelly, Jake Best, the return of Allan Phelan, Victor Rabei, a fight between super middleweights Vladimir Belujsky and Manny Bique, a BUI Celtic light middleweight title clash between Dublin’s Craig O’Brien and former Welsh champion Lee Churcher, and is headlined by a BUI Celtic welterweight title fight between Noely Murphy and Shortty Carroll.
