Christopher Diaz returns Nov. 24 in Puerto Rico

The super featherweight looks to bounce back.

Super featherweight contender Christopher Diaz will return to the ring on Nov. 24 in Puerto Rico, looking to bounce back from his first career defeat, suffered this past July against Masayuki Ito.

Against Ito, Diaz (23-1, 15 KO) was fighting for a vacant world title belt, but he was dropped in the fourth round and outpointed over 12 by Ito, who claimed the WBO title that night in Florida.

The 23-year-old Diaz is promising to come back strong and make another run toward the top:

“I am anxious to return to the ring, to the combat zone. In July, more than a defeat, it was a learning experience. (Now) we come stronger, with a new approach and a vision of being a world champion. I will be a champion, I promise you.”

Diaz, nicknamed “Pitufo,” will be facing David Berna (17-5, 16 KO) of Hungary when he returns to action, a fight he should definitely win against a guy who has been used to check prospects, notably facing Michael Conlan in March of this year.
