With the competitive growth of women’s boxing, come bigger challenges. On March 5th, for the first time in the history of the World Boxing Association, the 154-pound Super Championship will be at stake between Claressa T-Rex Shields and Canadian Marie Eve Dicaire. The event will be held on International Women’s Day at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan, USA.

Shields has become a female boxing icon worldwide since she achieved double gold at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She has been undefeated in ten fights, two of which she finished by KO. At 25 years of age, she is one of the eight fighters in history who have achieved the absolute reign with the four main organizations in the world (WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF): Cecilia Braekhus, Katie Taylor, Jessica McCaskill, Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Oleksandr Usyk and Terence Crawford.

T-Rex made her professional debut in November 2016 and by her fifth fight in January 2018 she was already Super Middleweight champion after defeating Tori Nelson. Five months later, she beat the emblematic Hanna Gabriels to win the 160-pound championship. Now she is looking to lead at 154 pounds.

Meanwhile, Marie Eve Dicaire, who had a fruitful sports career in karate during her childhood, made an outstanding career as an amateur boxer, and then in 2015 jumped to professional. She has been undefeated in seventeen fights, with no KOs so far. She is the International Federation’s 154-pound champion, a title that will also be at stake in Flint when she faces Claressa Shields.

This is a duel that promises a lot of action between two strong fighters. Whoever wins will be the undisputed owner of all the 154-pound belts, as well as being crowned as the division’s Super Champion by the world’s pioneer organization.
