n (OPBF) flyweight champion Richard “Explosive” Claveras of the Philippines will defend his title against Japanese challenger Keisuke Nakayama on Tuesday (June 13) at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
It is promoted by the Reason Promotions with OPBF president Juan Ramon Guanzon as the supervisor.
“I’m now ready to face my challenger. I will go out for knockout,” said Claveras in an early interview at the MP Highland Boxing Gym in Manila.
Claveras is being accompanied by trainer Allan Alegria, a former Philippine junior welterweight champion from Davao City.
Claveras, who is managed by Ryuta Kato of United Boxing Stable, won the interim OPBF flyweight crown via a majority decision win against Jeronil Borres of Highland Boxing Gym last September 30 in Bacoor, Cavite.
Claveras (17-2-2, 14 KOs) previously stopped Roilo Golez last March 5 in Mandaluyong City.
Nakayama (9-2-1-4 KOs) won by a majority decision against fellow Japanese Naoki Mohizuki in his last fight last March 10 in Tokyo.
The main supporting bout pits Takuya Kogawa (28-4-0) and Masayuki Kuroda (26-7-3) for the Japanese flyweight title.
