Washington, DC has been known for great boxing among its boxers. Now it looks like the people who head the governing body for pro boxing in the Nation’s Capital are getting in on the action as well. On Friday, July 30th, the chair of the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission, Adam Weers, won a championship in the Men’s Masters division of the Ringside Amateur World Championships in Independence, MO.
The 39-year-old Weers has been boxing for 11 years but only recently started competing in tournaments. “The competition was really tough,” Weers told Fightnews.com®. “It was great to come out with a win. Weers is shown in the photograph alongside Marshall Cunningham, the chair of the Potomac Valley Association of USA Boxing, the board that oversees amateur boxing in DC and in parts of Maryland. Weers has led the DC Boxing and Wrestling Commission since February of 2016.
