DiBella Entertainment strengthens ties with Asia Pacific region

By Aus-Boxing.com

LOU DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment (DBE), has appointed Australian boxing agent Brendan Bourke to represent DBE in the Asia Pacific region in search of new talent.

DiBella and Bourke intend to sign quality fighters that will resonate with an American television audience.

“Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region have a tremendous amount of promising talent and championship caliber fighters,” said DiBella. “I am thrilled to bring in Brendan Bourke as we establish ‘DBE Downunder’ to seek out the best fighters from that area and introduce them to the American market. Announcements on which fighters are signed will be forthcoming.”

A graduate of Harvard Law School, DiBella was the Senior Vice President of HBO Sports for 11 years and was responsible for creating the network’s renowned Boxing After Dark series.

As the head of DiBella Entertainment since 2000, DiBella established Broadway Boxing, which has become the longest running local boxing series in New York. His company has also promoted fights for some of the biggest names in the sport including world champions Deontay Wilder, Sergio Martinez, Andre Berto, Bernard Hopkins, and many others.

With regard to the Asia Pacific region, DiBella currently promotes highly regarded super middleweight contender Blake Caparello (24-2-1, 8 KOs) and world ranked lightweight Billel Dib (21-1, 10 KOs).

Bourke is delighted with the opportunity to join DiBella Entertainment and to oversee operations in Australia.

“Lou DiBella is one of the best promoters in boxing and has a great track record, which is why I jumped at the chance to take up this position,” said Bourke. “Look at what he’s done for Caparello. Upon signing with DBE, Caparello headlined an ESPN event, fought for a light heavyweight world title against Sergey Kovalev on HBO and was featured on a Premier Boxing Champions card against Andre Dirrell.”

“It is an exciting opportunity to offer fighters big fights in the US on television. Boxing thrives when rags to riches stories are realized and local talent is given a platform to perform on the biggest stages in the world in hopes of achieving a dream.”

“I know Lou is excited about not only continuing his promotional commitment with Caparello and Dib, but he’s looking forward to signing some of the best fighters from this region.”
