PHILIPPINES — Two vacant titles in the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Boxing Council will be at stake in this year’s Kasadyaan Festival on September 10 in Tupi, South Cotabato.

The exciting boxing event, billed as the “Battle in Tupi” will be held at the Tupi Municipal Gym. It is supported by Tupi Mayor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. as part of the annual week-long foundation anniversary of the municipality of Tupi.

“This is the biggest boxing event here in South Cotabato,” said boxing promoter Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, Chief Executive Officer of the Sanman Promotions.

It is open free to the public courtesy of Mayor Tamayo and Sanman.

The double main header will feature two of Sanman’s best boxers Reymart Gaballo and Romero Duno against opponents from Thailand.

The undefeated Gaballo (14W-12Kos) is fighting Manot Comput (12W-13L-0D-6Kos) for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight title while Duno is facing Paiboon Lorkam            (16W-8L-0D) for the vacant super featherweight title.

The 19-year old Gaballo previously scored a fourth round knockout against Jilo Merlin at the Gaisano Mall Atrium in General Santos City last June 26. On that same card, Duno also stopped Eusebio Baluarte in the fourth round.

“The Thai fighters are not patsy. They are also both knockout artists,” said Manangquil.

Gaballo’s rival Comput is also coming from a knockout victory. The 33-year old Comput scored a first round TKO over Thepyothin Yodwaree last Aprl 24 at the Meenayothin Camp in Bangkok.

Duno’s opponent Lorkam, on the other hand, also last won by a first round TKO against Natdanai Pengthong at the same venue.

Lorkam, however, failed in his bid for the vacant IBF Australasian featherweight title by losing via a 3rd round TKO to Nathaniel May last May 7 at WA Italian Club in Perth, Australia.

The undercard will also have former interim WBA World light flyweight champion Randy “Razor” Petalcorin (23W-2L-1D-18KO), WBF International featherweight champion John Vincent “Mulawin” Moralde (16W-0L-0D-7Kos) and WBF International bantamweight champion Mike “Magic” Plania (11W-0L-OD-4KOs).

The complete card will be announced next week.
