MALAYSIA’S DOUGLAS LEE READY FOR ACTION IN HIGHLAND’S “RISING STARS” SHOW THURSDAY AT SPACEPLUS BANGKOK

By Fightnews ASIA

BANGKOK, Thailand – With eyes set on one day claiming a boxing championship, Super Middleweight Douglas Lee Kien Yoon will see action as one of the international pro boxers thrilling fans this Thursday, February 29, at the cozy Spaceplus Bangkok Night Club, RCA Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand.

Guided in his pro career by Australian men of boxing Gary and Pat Connolly, the 28-year-old Douglas Lee will battle tough warrior Win Tun Oo of Myanmar in the third bout of the exciting 11-fight event billed as “Rising Stars.”

The show staged by prolific promoters Supanat Chanram and Brico Langbay Santig.

“Since I was a kid, it has always being my dream to become a professional boxer. Now I am, wanting to be the best I can be.” shared Douglas during his courtesy visit to the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok today.

At the Malaysian Embassy, Douglas, together with promoter Brico Santig and Mrs. Must Muslyn, were received by Ms. Jarin Sijaya Abdul Hathi and Mr. Mohd Hafiz Bin Abu Bakar with whom the friendly and polite Douglas chatted about his young pro boxing career, inviting them to attend the show.

Later on, Douglas went on to share that he loves everything about boxing, the sport that changed his life, enjoying every second of being a pro boxer:

“I was born in Shah Alam, a city and the state capital of Selangor in Malaysia, and as a kid I went to live in a small town in Australia. I was the one and only Asian kid there. I was bullied big time, even punched and had to get into fights, needing to defend myself.

“Later on I met Pat and Gary Connolly, men of boxing, and my life change for the better. Got a purpose. Now I have a wife and a 2-year-old son, and boxing is still my passion.

“So yes, I love boxing for many reasons.

“I have always admired champion boxers from the 70’s and 80’s, especially Muhammad Ali, as well as “The Four Kings,” Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Hagler, trying to learn as much as I can from them.

“Especially, I love Roberto Duran who being a lightweight went on to fight much bigger men, boxing them with heart and a great defense. I like him. I was small too, having to fight big guys.

Douglas Lee’s fight against Win Tun Oo is a non-title six-round rumble in the super middleweight division, taking place this coming Thursday, February 29, at the SpacePlus Bangkok.

Fans outside Thailand may want LIVE with English commentator from the YouTube channel and Facebook page of Highland Boxing. The first bell for the event will sound at 2 PM (Thailand Time)

May the Best Man Win!
