UFC on FOX: Gaethje vs. Poirier took place April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. UFC lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje (18-2) and Dustin Poirier (23-5, 1 NC) collided in the night’s highly-anticipated main event, which aired live on FOX. Catch the video highlights above.

Round 1: Herb Dean on hand for the main event. Poirier scores first, tagging Gaethje with a pair of crisp jabs and a right hand. Gaethje chewing up the inside of Poirier’s leg with kicks. Small cut around Gaethje’s eyes and there’s some blood. That jab is catching Gaethje as he goes in. Poirier opens up with a combination, most of it blocked. Gaethje stalking forward and he’s throwing hands. Poirier again with a counter combo. Gaethje lands a good left hook. More combinations by Poirier but he’s not landing clean. Poirier triples up on the jab. He rips Gaethje’s body with a hard right. Gaethje slips off of a high kick. Right hand by Poirier, then he lands another crisp body shot. Gaethje lunges forward and Poirier lands more counter shots. Gaethje’s leg kicks still finding a home. Gaethje trying to come over the top with a right hand.

Round 2: Poirier using a lot of side-to-side movement, he’s letting Gaethje chase him. Gaethje already throwing more than he was in round one. Hard inside leg kick by Gaethje. Gaethje’s jab looking better. Straight right by Poirier. Fingers get in Poirier’s eyes and we get a break in the action. Poirier says he doesn’t want a doctor and after a short break they’re back on. Gaethje just walks into three punches, then lands a left hook. Gaethje with a combo, he’s turtling up as Poirier fires back. Body shot by Poirier, inside leg kick by Gaethje. Non-stop volume from both guys. Takedown attempt by Poirier is blocked. Uppercut from Poirier, then a right over the top. Gaethje just absorbs it and fires another leg kick. Inside leg kick scores for Poirier. He’s tagging Gaethje with straight punches. Poirier catches a kick, Gaethje shrugs off the takedown attempt. He ends the round throwing elbows and uppercuts at Poirier against the fence, then throws a wild flipping kick.

Round 3: Poirier targeting the body early in round three. Gaethje continues the assault on Poirier’s lead leg. Poirier ducks a punch and scores a takedown, but Gaethje is back up almost instantly. Left hand to the body by Poirier and Gaethje answers with a sharp leg kick. Right hand by Gaethje backs Poirier up. He’s against the fence, but Gaethje chooses not to unload. He takes his time and connects with an uppercut. Clinch against the fence, they trade knees to the body. Poirier’s right leg also takes some knees and it is a mess. 1-2 for Gaethje lands. Gaethje is smashing Poirier’s leg. Another 1-2 scores for Gaethje. Poirier gets a three-punch combo in there. They’re clinched against the fence with a minute to go. Poirier scoring inside, then he goes back to the jab as Gaethje separates. Another eye poke by Gaethje and this time Dean is going to take a point. With only a few seconds left, Gaethje reacts to a possible eye poke from Poirier and they have to be separated.

MMA Fighting scores the round a 9-9 draw. Overall: 29-27, Poirier.

Round 4: Poirier hurts Gaethje with a straight left hand and he is flurrying now. Poirier pouring it on, he is just bombing away and Dean steps in just as Gaethje looks like he might fall. Gaethje not thrilled about the finish but he was on spaghetti legs.
