Nicaraguan 4-division world champion Román “Chocolatito” González will be challenging Mexican WBC “Franchise” and WBA 115 lbs champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada March 5 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

The fight, which is promoted by Oscar de Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions in association with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, will air live on DAZN.

It will be the third clash between the two top-caliber warriors, with one victory for each.

The last time they exchanged heavy artillery was last March 13 in Dallas, Texas, with the Mexican winning a questionable result.

Indeed, the controversial result of their second fight requires this third fight to unfold for the WBC “franchise” and WBA 115 lbs titles.

The 34-year-old “Chocolatito” will enter this war with a 50-3 record, with 41 knockouts, while the 31-year-old “Gallo” Estrada will do so with 42-3 and 28 knockouts.

The two charismatic Latino fighters were scheduled to rumble for the third time October 16, but Chocolatito contracted covid and the fight had to be postponed.

Now we know it will happen on March 5.

Notably, the WBC made “Gallo” Estrada from “world champion” to “franchise champion” to allow him to fight Chocolatito for the third time, instead of having Estrada making a mandatory defense against tough Thailand slugger former champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.

Sor Rungvisai, who was hoping to clash against Estrada, will instead be battling for the vacant WBC regular 115 title in a rematch against former Mexican world champion Carlos “Principe” Cuadras on February 5 in Arizona.

The second Chocolatito vs Estrada, which became of the best action fights of 2021, unfolded more than 8 years after their first malee.

At that time, “Chocolatito” González defeated Estrada by unanimous decision in that 12-rounder for Chocolatito’s WBA 108 lbs world title.

In that first 2012 collision, “Chocolatito” González defeated Estrada by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 in Los Angeles.

In the 2nd rumble, the Mexican Estrada Prevailed over Chocolatito in a controversial decision of which many fans though a draw would have been more fair.

Many even saw Chocolatito winning. But it was Estrada’s hand the one to be risen.

Who will win the third war?

It is hoped that the winner of the 🇳🇮 Chocolatito vs 🇲🇽 Estrada 3 will go on to fight the winner of the Sor Rungvisai vs Cuadras 2.

Who do you think will emerge VICTORIOUS?
