EX-CHAMP "BOOM-BOOM" BAUTISTA IN HIGHLAND BRAWL SEPT. 23

FORMER champion Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautisa is making a comeback on the ring on September 23 at the La Trinidad Municipal Gym in La Trinidad, Benguet.
“But not as a professional boxer but as one of the referees of the amateur boxing bouts in the curtain raiser,” said boxing promoter Brico Santig of the Highland Boxing Promotions.
Bautista (36W-3L-0D, 25 KOs) , a former IBF International and WBO International featherweight champion is now enlisted with the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City as one of their boxing trainers.
“He (Boom-Boom) is now happy with his present job. But he still loves boxing,” said Santig.
The 31-year old Bautista, a native of Bohol, won his last fight via a 7th round technical decision against Mexican Juan Jose Martinez last September 5, 2014 at the World Trade Centre in Dubai.
Bautista, who was under the ALA Boxing Stable, is also a former WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight, WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight, WBO Asia Pacific Youth bantamweight,
Bautista won the WBO super bantamweight title eliminator via a unanimous decision against Sergio Manuel Medina on May 5, 2007 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Bautista, however, lost by a first round knockout only when he challenged WBO world super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon in their championship fight on Aug. 11, 2007 at the Arco Arena, Sacramento.

The main event of the “Highland Brawl: The Return Bout” is the long-awaited rematch between Daye “Die Hard” Gabutan (19W-6L-3D, 10 KOs) and former WBC Asian Boxing Council minimumweight champion Roilo “The Phoenix” Golez (16W-18L-1D, 7 KOs).
The supporting bout is a 6-rounder between KJ Natuplag of Ifugao against Bener Santig of Kapangan.
