Floyd Mayweather: Retired, but doesn’t know ‘what the future holds’

Floyd Mayweather is 41 years old and hasn’t fought since August 2017, when he defeated Conor McGregor in a massive money glorified novelty bout, but until it’s truly too late and too ridiculous for him to come back, he’s going to be asked about coming back.

Most recently, Mayweather has been rumored as a potential UFC participant, which most of us think is pure hogwash, something he’d never risk doing.

Here’s what Mayweather said in a quick interview with ESPN, when asked if he would really fight in UFC’s Octagon:

“I’m retired right now. I had a great career. We don’t know what the future holds, but as of right now I’m retired. Once I communicate with my team — because I don’t have that much time left, so we don’t know what the future holds.”

So it’s the usual answer from Floyd. He’s retired, unless he isn’t. He keeps the door open. Manny Pacquiao wants a rematch, and if that fight or something else had the right money, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Floyd fight again in 2019 at the age of 42. The guy keeps himself in impeccable shape and hasn’t taken much punishment in his career, so you never really know, at least for the next couple of years.
