WBC light Flyweight champion Ganigan “Maravilla” Lopez and the Filipino contender Jonathan Taconing clash this Saturday at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City, in a fight that will be of high risk for the champ.
Ganigan said he comes to this fight with all attitude and desire to definitely remain world champion; “It’s a great satisfaction to be champion. On Saturday I will have a very tough defense…but not impossible. We have full confidence that the green and gold belt will stay put in Mexico.”
Taconing said he is grateful to the promoters and the World Boxing Council for the opportunity to contest the crown; “I know it will be a great fight as always, when Mexican and Filipino fighters clash. I will do my utmost to win this fight and take that belt to my country!”
Both fighters successfully passed the official weigh in:
Ganigan López 107 lbs.
Jonathan Taconing 107.5 lbs.
