GOLEZ WANTS TO KNOCKOUT ALFANTE IN WBC ABCO TITLE-FIGHT

MANILA (Sept. 29) — Former WBC Asian Boxing Council minimumweight champion Roilo “The Phoenix” Golez wants to knockout Cris Alfante in their championship fight for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental flyweight title on October 1 at 4 p.m. in the Elorde: Night of Champions IV at the Grand Flash Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Paranaque City.

Golez has a record of 16 wins with seven knockouts but has already 15 knockouts and one draw. The 29-year old native from Maco, Compostela Province made a successful comeback by knocking out Diarh Gabutan in 2:46 of the 5th round last June 10 in Mandaluyong City.

“Puede pa akong maging champion muli,” said Golez, who captured the WBC Asian Boxing Council minimumweight crown via a 10th round technical knockout win against Thongthailek Sor Tanapinyo last July 8, 2011 at the Klang Krathumbaen School in Thailand.

Golez fought but lost for the vacant WBC Silver light flyweight title against Sammy Gutierrez by a 5th round last October 1, 2011 in Mexico.

Golez also has dropped all six other separate championship bouts. He first bowed to Sirichai Thaiyen for the WBC Youth World light flyweight title by a unanimous decision last May 27, 2011 in Bangkok.

Golez was pummeled to submission by Edgar Sosa via a 7th round TKO for the WBC International flyweight title on January 7, 2012 in Mexico. He then bowed to undefeated Prasitsak Papoem by a UD for the WBO Oriental flyweight title on November 2, 2012 at the Western University Bangkok Campus in Thailand.

Golez also lost by a UD to another undefeated Thai boxer Wanheng Menayothin for the WBC International minimumweight crown on December 3, 2012 in Bangkok.

In his next fight, Golez settled only a technical draw with Wilber Andogan for the interim WBC Asian Boxing Council minimumweight title on February 16, 2013 in Manila.

Golez again went to Mexico to fight for the vacant WBC United States flyweight crown but lost to Armando Santos by a UD on August 24, 2013.

In his last title-fight, Golez fought against another unbeaten Thai Petchchorhae Kokietgym (6-0-0) but was knocked out only in the second round on August 29, 2014 in Wat Tako, Thailand for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight title.

Alfante, on the other hand, has 11 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw with 4 knockouts.

He won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council minimumweight title on October 27, 2013 at Elorde’s The Flash Grand Ballroom.

The 24-year old native of Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte is also hungry for a title after losing all his last three separate title fights.

Alfante was TKO’d by Florante Condes for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific minimumweight title on March 15, 2014 in Manila. He was also stopped by Knockout CP Freshmart for the WBC Youth World minimumweight crown on July 25, 2014 in Thailand.

Alfante dropped a UD against unbeaten Jakkrawut Majoogoen for the vacant WBC Youth World light flyweight title on November 6, 2014

The Alfante-Golez championship is promoted by the Elorde International Promotions of Gabriel ‘Bebot” Elorde Jr.

It will also feature Joe Misako Noynay against Danilo Gabisay for the WBC ABCO Featherweight Championship.

Pitted in the main supporting bout are Roldan Aldea and Benjie Suganob for 10 rounds in the 130 lbs. division.
