Gordon Ryan vs Ralek Gracie set for Metamoris Challenge, proceeds to pay debt to athletes

ADCC Champion Gordon Ryan agrees to compete against Ralek Gracie.

Ralek Gracie didn’t get his wish to compete in a grudge match against AJ Agazarm, but he drew another big name in the world of competitive grappling: Gordon Ryan. The Metamoris Challenge event set for November 26 now has a main event pitting Gracie against the Danaher Death Squad standout.

Gracie took to social media to announce the matchup on Tuesday. He was originally looking for a match against Agazarm, as he’s been one of the most vocal critics for Gracie and the Metamoris promotion. Both men continued to go back in forth in social media, mainly around the issue of payment that was not received by fighters who competed on past Metamoris events. When Agazarm did not respond to the challenge, Ryan stepped into the position and the bout was confirmed with this post.

Ryan took to his social media space to not only confirm the bout, but make a bold prediction at the same time.

“Challenge accepted. No time limit submission only,” Ryan posted on Facebook. “I will submit Ralek with one of 2 moves in between 10 and 18 minutes. The first move being some kind of triangle and the second being a variation of an arm bar.”

Ryan has been tearing up the grappling scene. In September he picked up an ADCC gold medal in the 99 kilograms group. This year he’s defeated the likes of Keenan Cornelius, Lucas Barbosa, Vagner Rocha and others.

Gracie recently returned to mixed martial arts when he competed against Hisaki Kato atBellator 170, where he lost via unanimous decision. His last appearance in the grappling space was at Metamoris 7 in 2016 where he lost via knee bar variation to Ryan’s teammate, Garry Tonon.

Metamoris Challenge will be live broadcast via internet PPV. According to Gracie, all proceeds will be used to pay for any past debts to fighters who’ve performed on the Metamoris stage in the past.
