UNDEFEATED Filipino boxer Edward “El Heneral” Heno is fighting Japanese Seita Ogido for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) light flyweight title on May 21 at the University of the Ryukyus in Nakagami, Okinawa, Japan.
Both fighters are southpaws.
Akinobu Hiranaka of Hiranaka Boxing School is the promoter of the 12-round title fight with Warren Edison as the matchmaker.
Heno, a native of Baguio City, is still undefeated with 12 wins and four knockouts and four draws while Ogido is toting 11 wins with two losses and two draws.
It will be Heno’s first fight outside the country.
Heno previously scored a 9th round knockout against erstwhile unbeaten Cris Ganoza (12-0) last March 19 to capture the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation light flyweight crown at the Makati Cinema Square Boxing Arena in Makati City.
Ogido, on the other hand, settled a majority draw with another Filipino Jonathan Refugio in their battle for the vacant WBC Youth World light flyweight title last January 8 at the City Gym in Tomigusuku, Okinawa
Ogido has already beaten two other Filipinos – Jeffrey Galero (2016) and JC Francisco (2015) – both by unanimous decisions.
