IBF also orders Tevin Farmer vs. Billy Dib for vacant title

Tevin Farmer has been in a limbo of sorts thanks to Kenichi Ogawa’s failed drug test and ongoing arbitration, but the IBF has thrown him a bone, ordering him to fight former featherweight champion Billy Dib for an interim super featherweight title while they sort out “regular” champ Ogawa’s mess.

Yes, we’ve used that picture before. I’m using it again because it’s great.

Farmer (25-5-1, 5 KO) saw an 18-fight winning streak come to an end against Ogawa despite soundly outclassing him in the eyes of virtually the entire viewing public. Though his style isn’t the most crowd-pleasing, he deserves a spot among the top fighters at 130.

It’s not clear whether Dib (43-4, 24 KO) does. He’s 4-0 (1 NC) since getting mulched by Takashi Miura in his first bid at super lightweight gold, facing nobody competent. His last opponent had lost seven straight and barely won a round in most of those.

Farmer should absolutely school Dib, although judges do move in mysterious ways.
