Japanese 122-pound champ Yasutaka Ishimoto, making his second defense, retained his belt by a fine stoppage over Gakuya Furuhashi at 2:27 of the tenth and final round on Saturday in Tokyo.  Ishimoto once upset Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in Macao in 2013, but failed to win over Chris Avalos via eighth round TKO loss in an IBF eliminator in the same venue in Macao in 2014.  Ishimoto acquired the vacant national belt by decisioning Yusaku Kuga in December of the previous year and kept it twice since.
Former WBA 122-pound champ, now campaigning in the feather category, Japanese lefty Akifumi Shimoda easily halted Filipino Gadwin Tubigon at 1:58 of the second session.
