Ishimoto once upset Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in Macao in 2013, but failed to win over Chris Avalos via eighth round TKO loss in an IBF eliminator in the same venue in Macao in 2014. Ishimoto acquired the vacant national belt by decisioning Yusaku Kuga in December of the previous year and kept it twice since.

Ryuya Yamanaka will meet Filipino Merlito Sabillo in quest of the vacant OPBF 105-pound throne.
