GL: Congrats on a gutty performance, can you give us some thoughts on how the fight went down? I thought it was a good performance overall. It was a good eye opener. I got caught with two shots that I didn’t see and they put me on the canvas, but I got up and showed the true heart of a champion and continued to fight strong and finish the rounds off strong. After you get dropped though, they’ve got to score that round a 10-8 round, so I’m not going to make any excuses I will be back. They called the fight a majority draw because other than the times I got dropped I was dominating the fight.
GL: Do you feel that with another two rounds to play with you would have been to win decisively?
JaRico O’Quinn: “Yes sir. If I had one more I round I would have won clearly. Unfortunately we didn’t. It was scheduled for six so that’s what it was.”
GL: Did you leave the ring disappointed? How do you feel 24 hours removed from suffering the first blemish on your record?
JO: “I feel like I let myself down first. Anything short of a victory is letting myself down. With this being a draw, I know it’s not as bad as a loss, but to me it’s a loss. I let myself down.”
GL: Have you already told Salita you want that rematch asap?
JO: “I told the matchmaker that I want that fight. I’m going to go back to the gym and sharpen up on a few things defense wise and get back to it.”

GL: In your mind do you need to get the blemish off your record by beating this guy before moving on to the next level?
JO: “Yes. That’s what I told my matchmaker and my team. We need to go right back and do it because it ain’t nothing to me but a fight and I’ve been through way more than that.”

GL: What did you learn from this fight?
JO: “I learned that I have to tighten up on my defense. My defense got to get as sharp as my offense.”
GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.
JO: “This is nothing the end of me, this has not broken my will. I will be back with better defense and sharper. Continue to support me.”
