Jihin Radzuan Impresses With First-Round Triangle Choke in Malaysia

Wushu World Champion Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan ignited the local crowd inside the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with a highlight-reel performance at ONE: MASTERS OF DESTINY.

On Friday, 12 July, the Johor Bahru resident got back into the win column by impressively submitting the Philippines’ Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres in the first round of their women’s atomweight mixed martial arts encounter.

Jihin dominated the early stand-up exchanges with her wushu striking and, after Torres bounced back up from a quick takedown, the local favorite then delivered a second — and more decisive — takedown with a slick inside trip.

The Malaysian star looked to secure an armbar, but as she attempted to do so, the 23-year-old Filipina showcased her strength by picking up “Shadow Cat” and powerfully slamming her to the canvas not once, but twice.

Despite the two high-amplitude slams, Jihin refused to release her hold on Torres’ arm. “Shadow Cat” maintained control from her back and then, spying her chance, she pounced. The Johor Bahru native threw up her legs, locked up a triangle choke, and applied the squeeze.

The Filipina tried her hardest to escape the submission hold, but the 20-year-old simply would not be denied.

Jihin tightened the choke and forced the tap at the 3:07 mark of the opening round, prompting wild scenes in the stands as the Kuala Lumpur faithful celebrated their compatriot’s thrilling win.

In victory, “Shadow Cat” pushed her career record to 5-1.

Also, the win marked the perfect way for the Malaysian hero to celebrate earning her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt as she claimed a first-round submission finish in front of her adoring fans.
