Robeisy Ramirez set for August 10th pro debut

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and recent Top Rank signee Robeisy Ramirez “is penciled in” to debut on August 10th as part of the Carl Frampton-Emmanuel Dominguez ESPN+ card in Philadelphia.

Ramirez, a Cuban defector, defeated the likes of Andrew Selby and Michael Conlan in the 2012 Games before claiming flyweight gold with a decision over future WBC featherweight mandatory Tugstsogt Nyambayar. His Rio run four years later at bantamweight saw him defeat current super bantamweight mandatory Murodjon Akhmadaliev in the semis and Shakur Stevenson in the finals.

The 25-year-old also claimed gold at the 2010 World Amateur Championships, the 2010 Youth Olympics, 2011 Pan-American Games, and the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games. Suffice to say, there were no more worlds left to conquer in the unpaid ranks, and unlike many of his countrymen, joins the pros smack in the middle of his athletic prime.

Elsewhere on the card, former super bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno squares off with recent featherweight title challenger Rafael Rivera, while TBA is presently pulling triple duty against Ramirez, Eddie Berlanga, and Jason Sosa.
