A five-round light heavyweight showdown between Jimi Manuwa and Glover Teixeira will serve as the main event for UFC Sao Paulo on Sept. 22, the UFC announced following a report by Globo Esporte.
The Fight Night card takes place at the Ibirapuera gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Manuwa (17-4) lost a rematch with Jan Blachowicz in March, and enters UFC Sao Paulo on a two-fight skid with the other defeat coming by the hands of Volkan Oezdemir. “Poster Boy”, ranked No. 5 in the official UFC ranking, knocked out Corey Anderson and Ovince Saint Preux prior to his recent losses.
Teixeira (27-7) will look to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Corey Anderson, who replaced Teixeira’s original opponent Ilir Latifi at last month’s UFC Hamburg. The one-time title contender has bounced between wins and losses since 2016, winning 10 of his 15 bouts inside the Octagon.
