Heavy-handed Brazilian slugger John Lineker will get back in action sooner rather than later after booking his next fight against Rob Font at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Greenville, South Carolina on June 22.
The UFC made the fight official on Wednesday.
Font was originally expected to face Cody Stamann on the card but now he will take on Lineker in a rematch instead. Stamann later revealed on Twitter that he suffered an injury that knocked him out of the fight.
40 fights straight I made it to payday, unfortunately this time The @Ufc doctors and my manager @TeamIridiumISA told me it couldn’t happen. Glad they found a great fight as a replacement. I’ll be back soon.UFC✔@ufcOFFICIAL: @JohnLineker steps in to face @RobSFont at #UFCGreenville!

Lineker has been very vocal about staying busy following a razor-close split decision loss to Cory Sandhagen in April and took aim at the UFC in a message on Twitter.
“My last opponent fought four times in a year. He already has another fight! Sean [Shelby] likes him! I have fought only four times since 2016! I need to fight! If you don’t like me or my style just let me go!” Lineker wrote.

Apparently the UFC was listening because he’s now been booked for his next fight just a few weeks away for the upcoming debut card in Greenville.
Lineker will face Font in a rematch after the two bantamweights first met back in 2016.
On that night, Lineker earned a unanimous decision victory, which was part of a six-fight win streak he was putting together at the time. Since then, Lineker has gone 2-2 in his past four fights including wins over Marlon Vera and Brian Kelleher.
As for Font, the Massachusetts native is coming off a win against former flyweight contender Sergio Pettis in his last fight. Font has also gone 2-2 over his past four performances with wins against Pettis and Thomas Almeida and losses to Pedro Munhoz and Raphael Assuncao.
Now Font will attempt to exact revenge against Lineker when they clash for the second time at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in South Carolina.
