Hassan N’Dam, despite being days away from an Olympic bid, fought and won in France.

With Leo Santa Cruz vs. Carl Frampton living up to the hype, some of this past weekend’s boxing action fell by the wayside. Luckily, the fine folks at The Ring and Fight News have our backs, providing recaps of Saturday’s other big cards.

Over in Leeds, Josh Warrington scored a rare stoppage over an overweight Patrick Hyland, Luke Campbell survived an early knockdown to take a comfortable decision over Argenis Mendez, and Tyrone Nurse turned aside the ever-aggressive Tommy Coyle to maintain his BBBofC title.

In addition, Dillian Whyte and Gamal Yafai picked up decisions while Sam Eggington and Frankie Gavin set up a future clash with stoppage victories.

In Indio, California, Antonio Orozco and Joseph Diaz Jr. picked up expected victories on HBO Latino, although in rather different fashions. Orozco, who weighed in at 142 for the super lightweight showdown, went to war with Abner Lopez while “Jojo” dispatched a grievously overmatched and undersized Victor Proa in two.

Orozco is currently Terence Crawford’s WBC mandatory challenger. That challenge will end very, very badly for him.

On the international scene, Michel Soro thrashed Hector Saldivia in three while Hassan N’Dam prepared for his upcoming Olympic battles with an easy beatdown of Poland’s Tomasz Gargula.

Personally, I wouldn’t have a professional fight just one week before I was supposed to represent my country on the world stage, but I guess that’s why he’s the Olympian and I’m the schlub writing about him.

We’ve got another busy week ahead of us on both the amateur and professional stages; we’ll do our best to keep you guys posted.
