Unified IBF/WBA women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor will make her fourth appearance of 2018 at Madison Square Garden on December 15th, facing former amateur foe and longtime WBC super featherweight champ Eva Wahlstrom on the Canelo Alvarez-Rocky Fielding card.

The fight will be Taylor’s third Stateside appearance in those four fights.

Taylor (11-0, 5 KO) enjoyed enormous success as an amateur, winning multiple world championships and becoming the inaugural Olympic women’s lightweight gold medalist in 2012. She’s looked equally untouchable as a pro, securing her first title in her seventh fight and defending it four times.

She was last seen defeating Cindy Serrano on the October Tevin Farmer-James Tennyson card.

Wahlstrom (22-0-1, 3 KO) has been the WBC super featherweight champ since defeating Natalia Vanesa del Valle Aguirre in April of 2015, and her eight victories since include four title defenses. BoxRec has her at #2 in the division behind French knockout artist Maiva Hamadouche.

Besides unification bouts with fellow lightweight champs Delfine Persoon and Rose Volante, this is one of the best available fights for Taylor, and I’m glad to see her continue to face quality opposition. Here’s hoping we get to see more of her on DAZN.
