Khabib Nurmagomedov’s future may be hanging in the balance for the time being, but it hasn’t stopped his management team from looking forward to see what’s out there for them. After the win over Conor McGregor at UFC 228 in October, Team Khabib is now looking for bigger and more lucrative opportunities.
One of the options that was brought up was a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., which UFC president Dana White already dismissed as pure talk. But it did not stop Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz from talking some smack in the direction of the undefeated boxer.
“He doesn’t have enough balls to do this. He’s not man enough to come to MMA and fight,” Abdelaziz told MMAjunkie Radio on Wednesday. “Boxing, it’s a semi-sport. MMA is a full sport for real guys. Floyd is not really a fighter; he’s an athlete. Khabib is a fighter.”
Another fight that is being brought up for the Khabib is against Tony Ferguson, a matchup that already fell through four times already. Many have deemed “El Cucuy” as a tough matchup for the unbeaten lightweight champion, but Abdelaziz believes otherwise.
“Tony Ferguson is an unbelievable fighter, but I’m telling you, he’s one of the easiest fights for Khabib out there. He’s sloppy. He’s slow. Khabib will beat him,” he said.
“He will put a beating on him, a worse (beating) on him maybe than (he did to Conor). The fight will happen, but when it will happen, I don’t know.”
Khabib is currently forced to remain in the sidelines, as he waits on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s sanction for his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl. All of it will be discussed during the Commission meeting on January 29th.
