“King Kong” Ortiz KO’s Kaufman

By WBCBoxing.com

Cuban Luis “King Kong” Ortiz had no problem defeating Travis Kauffman, of Pennsylvania, knocking him out in the tenth round, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Ortiz knocked down Kauffman in the sixth round and the Cuban celebrated ahead of time because the American got up. Kauffman was down again in the eighth and tenth round, until the referee Lou Moret stopped the fight at 1:58 of that same round.

“You do not have to get knock out in the very first round,” Ortiz said at the end of the bout. “My instructions were to box him for a while… until I let my hands in a definitive way.”

“I want to face Wilder again,” Ortiz said after dominating his rival. With this victory, the Cuban raised his record to 30-1, with 26 knockouts, while Kauffman saw his record fall to 32-3, 23 knockouts.
