Chan Sung Jung is feeling disappointed after what looked to be a win in his UFC comeback came crashing down at the last moment.

“The Korean Zombie” was on his way to a hard-fought five-round decision win in the featherweight main event of UFC Denver on Saturday before being caught by a spectacular counter elbow at the very last second by opponent Yair Rodriguez. The bout had been a highly entertaining affair up until that point, with the fans at the Pepsi Center fully engaged for its duration, but for now that excitement appears to be offering little consolation to Jung.

On Sunday, he took to Facebook to write a somber message about the loss (translation via MMA Fighting):

“I have no excuse. To everyone who has helped me, I’m truly sorry… thank you… to everyone who hates me, congratulations. I am not in a good enough condition to get on a plane so I will spend a few days in the hospital before going back to Korea. I am embarrassed, but I will see you when I get home.”

UFC Denver marked Jung’s first Octagon appearance since a Fight Night event on Feb. 4, 2017, where he knocked out Dennis Bermudez in the fourth round. Mandatory military service in his native South Korea and several injuries have limited Jung to just two fights since April 2013.

This was just the second time in Jung’s 19-fight career that he’d lost via a clean knockout.
