Kubrat Pulev and Dominic Breazeale head to purse bid for IBF eliminator

While the vast majority of boxing fans would prefer that Anthony Joshua face Deontay Wilder should the Brit dispatch Joseph Parker this Saturday, the IBF ordered #2 Kubrat Pulev and #6 Dominic Breazeale to face one another in a final eliminator. The sides were unable to come to an agreement and will go to a purse bid on April 10th.

That’s really turned into an important date, hasn’t it.

Pulev (25-1, 13 KO), arguably the top heavyweight outside the Big Four of Wilder, Joshua, Parker, and Luis Ortiz (Alexander Povetkin doesn’t count because drugs), is 5-0 since his one-sided loss to Wladimir Klitschko in 2014. None of those five wins are really worth much, though, considering his last three came over Dereck Chisora and the barely-mobile homunculi that were once Sam Peter and Kevin Johnson.

Breazeale (19-1, 17 KO) got a rather brutal introduction to the concept of “there are levels to this” against Anthony Joshua, but showed his grit and power in subsequent stoppages of Izu Ugonoh and Eric Molina. Pulev’s probably going to jab him to pieces, but at least “Trouble” will have a proper go at him.

So what do you guys think will happen? Wilder-Joshua/Parker happens and the winner takes on one of these two, or Pulev/Breazeale has to murk someone else once the unified belts are inevitably scattered to the winds?
