Landero to fight Monabesa for the vacant WBC International Lightweight Title

DAVAO CITY – Orthodox Toto “Muscovado” Landero of Negros Occidental will fight Tibo “Ilduce” Monabesa of Indonesia for the vacant World Boxing Council International Lightweight title on March 21 in Jakarta Indonesia.

The 25-year-old Landero (11W-4L-2D, 2KOs) did not see action last year.

His last fight was a victory against Joel Lino of Davao City, who was lost by unanimous decision last Sept. 7, 2019, in Taguig City.

Landero is not new to the world scene. He is a two-time world contender.

Landero challenged and put a good fight against Simpiwe Konkco (IBO World Minimumweight Champion) and Thammanoon Niyomtrong (WBA World Minimumweight Champion) in 2018.

One of Landero’s notable wins was against the current WBA World Champion Victorio Saludar by a split decision last June 10, 2017, in Mandaue City.

Monabesa (20W-1L-2D, 8KOs), on the other hand, defeated Australian Omari Kimweri with a convincing unanimous decision to win the vacant IBO World Light Flyweight title.

Monabesa used to fight Filipino contenders, he defeated five Filipinos and 1 draw under his resume.

He beat Rene Patilano of Paranaque by a unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC International Silver light flyweight title last Jan. 21, 2017, in Jakarta.

It is entitled “Showdown in Jakarta” and promoted by Armin Tan.
