Erislandy Lara and Thomas Lamanna will fight for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Middleweight Championship on Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

The Cuban and the American will tackle a new challenge in their careers and they are both facing a great opportunity that they cannot miss. In the case of Lara, he will move up one division after winning the Super Welterweight title in August 2019 against Ramon Alvarez and defending it once against Greg Vendetti in August 2020.

Lara made the decision to move up to 160 pounds in search of a new opportunity and a title in a second category, which would be a good achievement for the 38-year-old southpaw fighter.

For Lamanna, it is also a very important fight and a golden opportunity. The 29-year-old fighter comes from winning the WBA-Fedecentro belt after defeating Juan Angulo in January this year. The North American has been recovering after losing in controversial decisions and has managed to climb to this great fight.

The event organized by TGB Promotions will have several promotional activities this week and the official weigh-in will take place on Friday. Lara comes in with a record of 27 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws, and 15 KOs, while Lamanna has 30 wins, 4 losses, 1 draw, and 12 KOs.
