MAGALI ALL SET FOR OPBF SUPERFEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

By Sharma Devaiah

Out to get his fourth straight win on June 20 in his second title defense, Filipino pride Carlo Magali is all hyped against undefeated Japanese Hironori Mishiro as the latter will try to snatch Magali’s Oriental and Paficic Boxing Federation Super Featherweight belt in which he earlier defended against Mishiro’s  fellow, Masatoshi Kotani earlier this year in January.

Aiming to improve his 23-9-3 professional record, Magali’s been training since his first title defense in January for this fight as they headline the event at the historic Differ Ariake Hall where several Martial Arts events take place. Manager Brico Santig said the team is all set up for the weigh ins happening tomorrow as trainers Ericson Santig and Ninolito Alnaiz prepares Magali in one of the toughest fights in his Featherweight career as yet.

Magali won the coveted title against Indian Sandeep Balhara in July of last year at Kuala Lumpur as Balhara proved no match for Magali’s barrage of punches in the 10th round of their scheduled 12 round bout. The Filipino Ferocious repeated this streak as he KOed Kotani in the opening minute, also in the 10th round.

Albeit trying to round up different weight titles, his unsuccessful bouts in the Lightweight title fights against Emmanuel Tagoe in July 2016 in Accra, Ghana and against Pavel Malikov in November of the same year in Divs, Ekaterinburg strengthened the team’s sessions as he stayed in the Featherweight category.

In the same card, Filipino Virgil Puton who holds a 17-10 record of General Santos will mettle out Japanese Shuma Nakazato who had had 1 loss and 1 draw with 7 wins in the Super Featherweight undercard.
