REIGNING Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super featherweight champion Carlo “The Ferocious” Magali of the Philippines will be defending his title on January 13 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Magali (22W-9L-3D, 11 KOs) is fighting Japanese challenger Masatoshi Kotani (22W-2L-0D, 15 KOs).
The 31-year old native of Talibon, Bohol previously won the interim OPBF super featherweight title by stopping Sandeep Balhara via 10th round TKO last July 9 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Center in Kuala Lumpur.
Magali was recently honored as one of the current Filipino OPBF champions in the 55th OPBF Convention held at Puerto Princesa City last month.
The 30-year old Kotani, on the other hand, won his last 12 fights with six of them by knockouts.
Kotani has already beaten five Filipino boxers and his latest victim was Jason Egera via a 5th round TKO last September 10 at the University of the Ryukyus in Nakagami, Okinawa.
Kotani also beat Edgar Gabejan (split decision), Rey Las Pinas (UD), Nathan Bolcio (UD) and Cirilo Espino (9th round TKO). LITO DELOS REYES
