FILIPINO slugger Eduardo “The Nightmare” Mansito will be challenging reigning Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) featherweight champion Satoshi Shimizu of Japan on December 30 at the Bunka Gym in Yokohama.
This was announced by Mansito’s manager Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Promotion.
Shimizu captured the OPBF featherweight title only in his 4th outing by dethroning Korean Sa Myung Noh via a 5th round technical knockout last October 2 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
The 31-year old Shimizu only has four straight wins and all by knockouts while Mansito already has 15 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and 9 knockouts.
Mansito, 25, however, lost his previous fight by a unanimous decision to defending Philippine Boxing Federation super featherweight king Vergil Puton last Oct. 26 at the Sucat Covered Court in Muntinlupa City.
He also fought but lost earlier in two separate title bouts. Mansito first bowed to Mexican Tomas Rojas by a 9th round TKO in their battle for the WBC Continental Americas featherweight title on Oct. 17, 2015 at the Auditorio Benito Juarez in Veracruz.
Mansito also lost by a UD to Jilbert Gomera by a UD for the vacant PBF featherweight last Dec. 3, 2016 in Palawan.
“Sa experience lamang si Mansito pero may lakas at galing din yun Hapon,” said Santig.
