Creating a similar scenario with the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Fight Island, England’s Matchroom Fight Camp is set onslaught to its final event for the month of August on the 22nd featuring some of the big names in the Boxing industry.
Battling for the interim World Boxing Council heavyweight championship, Dillian Whyte who boasts a 27-1, 18 knockout-record is set to face Alexander Povetkin who likewise is a veteran at 35-2-1, 25 knockouts under his belt. This meeting is set up at the 3rd attempt after two postponements due to the world pandemic.
Undisputed women’s lightweight champion, undefeated Katie Taylor with her perfect 16 wins and no losses record will defend her titles against Delfine Persoon in a rematch after Taylor gave Persoon her loss one year ago at Madison Square Garden.
In the prelim bouts, Martin Bakole will go toe to toe against Sergey Kuzmin in the heavyweight match as Luther Clay will try to defend his World Boxing Organization Global featherweight title against Chris Kongo.
The fight is the 4th event this month as the first three saw actions on August 1, 7, and 14 respectively at the Matchroom fight camp. The organizers are taking the extra mile in having their fighters and their corners be tested for the COVID-19 virus and placing them under isolation pre-fight.
