Cuban Daniel Matellon retained his interim World Boxing Association (WBA) belt, after defeating Mexican Jorge Argumedo by unanimous decision in the fight that took place this Saturday in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was organized by Matchroom.

Argumedo came out looking for the fight from the first round, however, Matellon was able to avoid the attack and impose his defense. In the second round, the Aztec suffered a cut on his face as a result of an accidental headbutt.

This cut complicated the actions a little, in a fight in which the boxers tied up a lot and complicated the fight at times.

After the final bell, the judges voted a double 115-113 and 117-111. Thus, the Cuban improved his record at 12 wins, 2 draws, and 6 knockouts, while Argumedo has 24 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 15 knockouts.
