Welterweight Dmitry Mikhaylenko bounced right back from his defeat for the WBC Silver title against Charles Manyuchi last May with a convincing 7th round stoppage against still dangerous puncher Breidis Prescott for the WBC Silver interim title.
Mikhaylenko was briefly dropped in the 1st but tenaciously fought back, steadily wearing down the Colombian visitor for the next 6 rounds.
Prescott was dropped outside the ropes in round 7 but was still able to beat the count of Belgian veteran referee Daniel Van de Wiele. After the count Prescott turned his back to the referee saying “estoy cansado”… and the fight was waved off.
The local hero was in the lead on 2 cards by 58-56 (Irakly Malazonia), 57-56 (Noppharat Sricharoen) while the 3rd judge (Predrag Aleksic) had the visitor by 57-56.
Dmitry Mikhaylenko is now the official challenger to Charles Manyuchi and is eager to take revenge for his only defeat.
On the undercard Magomed Kurbanov dropped experienced Dennis Laurente in round 9 to win a wide unanimous decision by twice 100-89 and 99-90. Kurbanov retained his WBC ABCO Silver superwelterweight title and added the vacant WBC EPBC to his account.
Pavel Malikov retained his WBC ABCO Silver lightweight title with a steady punishment of Carlo Magali. After a brief consultation of the referee with the corner Magali wisely did not come out for round 9.
In the 4th WBC titlefight of the evening Mikhael Alekseev survived two knockdowns in round 1 to capture the WBC ABCO Silver super featherweight title of Mirzhan Zhalsylykov from Kazakhstan. The visitor was down in round 8 and decided not to come out for round 9 making Alekseev the new champion.
The successful event was promoted by Titov promotions at the DIVS arena of Ekaterinburg last Friday Nov 18.
