Former champion Donnie Nietes of Bacolod City will have a rematch with Kazuto Ioka of Japan for the World Boxing Organization World super flyweight title on July 13 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Japan.

Nietes earlier defeated Ioka by a split decision last December 31, 2018 at the Wynn Palace Cotai in Macao.

But Nietes failed to defend his title and so it was vacated.

Ioka then beat Aston Palicte of Bago City, Negros Occidental by a TKO in the 10th round to win the vacant WBO World super flyweight title at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City.

The 33-year old Ioka has defended the title four times already. He beat compatriot Ryoji Fukunaga by a unanimous decision last December 31, 2021 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium.

Ioka now has 28 wins, two loses and 15 knockouts.

There will also be three other Pinoy boxers seeing action in the undercard.

Super featherweight Presco “The Iceman” Carcosia (10-1-1, 9KOs) will go up against ex-OPBF title holder Musashi Mori (12-1-0, 7KOs) of Japan.

Bantamweight Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar (32-5-1, 22KOs) will fight against former WBC flyweight champion Daigo Higa (17-2-1, 17KOs) of Japan

Featherweight Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino (23-13-1, 13KOs) will face Hayato Tsutsumi.

The promoter is Takuya Kiya of Shisei Promotions.
