Niyomtrong, Tanaka Make Weight for WBA Minimumweight World Title in Thailand

NAKHON SAWAN, Kingdom of Thailand   —   Unbeaten WBA Minimumweight World Champion Thammanoon Niyomtrong (20-0, 7 KO’s) and Japanese challenger Norihito Tanaka (19-7, 10 KO’s) successfully made weight ahead of their world title rumble tomorrow (March 3) here in Thailand’s “Heavenly City” Nakhon Sawan, 240 Km north of Bangkok.


Niyomtrong, 29, the experienced champion making his 8th world title defense, came-in at the limit of the division 105 lbs., while WBA # 10 Tanaka   –   a former Japanese minimumweight titlist   –   made 104.8 pounds, both men looking strong, focused and in fantastic shape for their afternoon-time battle televised live on open TV here in Thailand.

The third man for the clash is Robert Hoyle of Las Vegas, USA.    Judges are all neutral.   The supervisor for the WBA is Won Kim of South Korea.

The event is a production of veteran Thai promoter Piyarat Vachirarattanawong of Petchyindee Boxing.
