World Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas, who’s The Pride of Otumba and the apple of the eye of many rural and urban fans, insists he only wants the cream of the crop opponent for his first defense.

“I fully trust my promoters. I know they will make the best negotiations for me, and I want to fight the highest ranked fighters because I want to prove that I am a real world champion.

“I am not afraid of anyone. I’ve arrived here by fulfilling all the requirements, winning qualifying and beating the highest ranked. So now it’s high time and my time to prove My worth. I need to clearly show I’m ready for the big fights and the most important rivals.

“There are talks with Ronny Rios, who is ranked #2 of the world, and some Japanese opponents who are highly ranked. I’m waiting for what my company decides. I am anxious to get into the ring, to prove that I am the best super bantamweight in the world.”

The 26-year-old champion, who’s already hard at work in his own gym, has a perfect record of 29-wins with a KO Ratio of 78% .
