
One day like today, Pipino Cuevas became the youngest welterweight champion
July 17th, 1976 .- Mexican Pipino Cuevas became the youngest boxer in history to conquer the welterweight championship stopping Puerto Rican, Angel Espada in round two, nineteen days shy of his twenty second birthday. The fight took place at the Calafia´s Bull Ring of Baja California, Mexico. The third man in that ring was Larry Rozadilla- a member of The Athletic Commission of California.
