The long-awaited fight between WBC super featherweight world champion Mexican Miguel “Alacrán” Berchelt and compatriot former world featherweight champion Oscar Valdez could be taking place on November 7.

That is what Valdez’s manager Frank Espinoza advanced in an interview with top boxing news web site BoxingScene.

“Right now things are looking good. We are in the middle of negotiations and we should know soon, ”Espinoza told BoxingScene.

“We just have to come to an agreement with Top Rank that is good for both parties. We are close. We could finish it today, if things work fast, we close the deal. … Oscar really wants to fight Berchelt. He feels like it’s a fight he can win.”

The champ Berchelt, 28, 37-1 33 KO’s), has made six defenses of the title that he won against another Mexican, Francisco Vargas, in January 2017, and is without a doubt one of the most established fighters today.

Meanwhile, the challenger Valdez (27-0, 21 KOs), 29, rose to the super featherweight division in 2019 after a solid campaign at 126 pounds.
