Petr Petrov steps in against Ivan Baranchyk

Badlefthook.com

With Anthony Yigit out of commission due to illness, former title challenger Petr Petrov has answered the call to face Ivan Baranchyk this Friday (March 9th) as part of Showtime’s tripleheader. Petrov has not fought since a decision loss to Terry Flanagan last April, but was in training for an April 28th bounce-back fight.

Petrov (38-5-2, 19 KO) has plied his trade at lightweight for a while, but his only losses in the last ten years were to Marcos Maidana, Dejan Zlaticanin, and the aforementioned Flanagan. Baranchyk is definitely vulnerable and is still facing the stiffest test of his career, so I wouldn’t count the veteran out.

The card is headlined by another reconfigured fight in Regis Prograis vs. Julius Indongo. Prograis was originally supposed to fight Viktor Postol, who wound up fracturing his thumb.
