Ronny Markes’s 2019 PFL campaign is off on the worst possible foot.

The 12-year veteran and former UFC fighter middleweight tipped the scales at 211.8 pounds on Wednesday for his light heavyweight bout with Sigi Pesaleli at PFL 14 on Thursday at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York, almost six pounds over the 205-pound limit (including a one-pound allowance).

With the miss, Markes becomes ineligible to earn points towards the playoffs in his bout with Pesaleli. MMA Fighting confirmed with PFL officials that Pesaleli has agreed to go through with the fight. He will receive an automatic three points and can earn more if he is able to finish Markes.

All other fighters were on weight, including light heavyweight headliners Vinny Magalhaes and Emiliano Sordi, and heavyweight co-headliners Kelvin Tiller and Muhammed Dereese.
