The Fall season finale of Boxeo Telemundo Ford ends with another Mexican boxing “Civil War.” The main event features local Mauricio “El Trompas” Pintor (19-2-1, 12 KOs) of Mexico City vs. unbeaten prospect Fernando “El Cacho” Marin (13-0-3, 9 KOs) of Aguascalientes. The bout is scheduled for ten rounds with the vacant WBC Latin welterweight title at stake. The site will be the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. Pintor is the nephew of famed former world champion and Hall of Famer Lupe Pintor. Mauricio has much respect for his uncle, but is ready to make a name for himself in boxing.

How do you feel your inactivity over the last three years will affect your performance on Friday?

We are going to see, but I can tell you I am coming to this fight well prepared.

How does it feel to be in your first Telemundo main event?

I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity by Telemundo. I am coming into this fight extremely motivated.

Your uncle Lupe is well known in boxing and had a hall of fame career. Any pressure fighting for you after all of his success?

I am very proud of my uncle and all his success. He truly earned it. I am trying to create my own identity in boxing with my own success.

What do you know about your opponent?

I know very little about my opponent, to be honest. I do know enough though to leave the ring with my hand raised.

What are your goals should you be victorious on Friday?

There is no doubt that I want to position myself to fight for a world title.

What kind of fight can we expect to see on Friday?

This is my big return to the ring. I cannot let all my local people down. This fight is going to be a thriller.
