Busy slugfest devotee Miguel “Mickey” Román is intensifying the buzz saw work schedule, in his third week of training in California, prior to encountering power puncher Orlando “Siri” Salido, on December 9th. at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Román Portillo, who’s fifth ranked super featherweight by the World Boxing Council ratings, says he’s homed in on Maywood, California to hone and perfect his condition, helped by the strict supervision of trainer Rudy Hernandez with whom he has formed a big team.
It’s many happy returns for Mickey, who turns 32 today. For he’s a jolly good fellow is waxing lyrical, suggesting that there’s no better birthday wish than to dish it out and triumph against Orlando.
“When I have a very important fight to come, the party can wait! We’re focused one hundred percent on training. I’ve been here 20 days in California, working towards winning this fight, doing exactly what Rudy asks me to achieve, because he’s a coach who knows just how to exploit the virtues of a fighter!”
