Promoter-Manager Rey “Cacoi” Rodis of Cagayan de Oro City settled a draw with his last-minute new opponent in their 3-round Urban Celebrity Boxing League (UCBL) held last Jan. 23 at Orlando, Florida.
“Basically natakot yung kalaban ko [My opponent was basically scared]”said 40-year-old Rodis.
Rodis, who now lives in Los Angeles City was supposed to fight rapper Ksino Montana of Orlando but he ends up with American-Puerto Rican Raymond Santiago as his last-minute replacement.
Santiago was much bigger and taller. He is only 21 years old from Orlando, Florida.
“So I fought someone bigger and taller” said Rodis.
Santiago was standing at 5-foot-8 while Rodis is only 5-foot-4.
Rodis was only told of his new opponent while he was making his warn up already.
“Mga weight 150 plus siguro di na tinimbang at diretso na kasi [Weights 150 plus maybe not weighed and straight because]” said Rodis.
“I decided to say OK, this fight doesn’t fit my ego, but for the community.”
“The show must go on. It’s not for me to back out,” he said.
“We got a draw imagine kung ka timbang ko [We got a draw imagine if you weigh me]” said Rodis.
