WBC featherweight world champion Gary Russell Jr. and Interim Champion Oscar Escandón came face to face, before climbing into the MGM National Harbor ring in Maryland on Saturday.
This will be Russell Jr.’s second defense of the title he won two years ago with a fourth-round knockout victory over former world champion Jhonny Gonzalez in March 2015.
Escandon won the WBC interim title last year by defeating Mexican Robinson Castellanos with a seventh-round knockout.
Both fighters successfully passed the weigh in:
Gary Russel Jr. (125.50 lbs.) vs Oscar Escandon (125.75 lbs.)
