Lightweight contender Rustam Khabilov will put his five-fight winning streak on the line when he faces off against Kajan Johnson at UFC Moscow on Sept. 15.
The UFC announced the lightweight bout through its social media feeds on Thursday morning following a report from Shakiel Mahjouri earlier this month. Following the initial fight announcement, UFC also announced that Ramazan Emeev would face Claudio Silva via press release.
The press release also confirmed that Jin Soo Son would step into replace Douglas Silva for his scheduled clash with top rated European bantamweight Petr Yan.
Khabilov (22-3-0) is currently in the best form of his UFC career having claimed five consecutive decision wins over Norman Parke, Chris Wade, Leandro Silva, Jason Saggo and Des Green. After three victories in as many outings after signing for the UFC in late 2012, “Tiger” faced former champion Benson Henderson and lost via fourth-round submission. His only other loss under the banner came in his very next fight, when he suffered a split decision loss to Adriano Martins.
Johnson (23-13-1) has compiled a record of 4-2 with the UFC. After losing his debut against Tae Hyun Bang, “Ragin” went on a four-fight win streak, claiming wins over Lipeng Zhang, Naoyuki Kotani, Adriano Martins and Stevie Ray. He had his win streak snapped in his last outing when he suffered a first-round submission loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC on FOX 30.
Emeev (17-3-0) makes his third walk to the Octagon in Moscow. So far, he has claimed two wins in two outings with the UFC, having his hand raised after besting Sam Alvey and, most recently, Alberto Mina.
Silva (12-1-0) successfully returned to action after a four-year absence with a first round submission over veteran welterweight, Nordine Taleb, at UFC Liverpool. He improved his UFC tally to 3-0 with the win, having previously taken wins against Leon Edwards and Brad Scott.
Son (9-2-0) is set for a baptism of fire after setting in on short notice to face Russian prospect Yan (9-1-0). The Korean established himself under the DEEP banner before he got his call-up to the UFC.
