FILIPINO prospect Markquil “Gunz” Salvana of General Santos City is looking for an upset win as he battles undefeated Japanese fighter Takuya Uehara for the vacant WBC Youth World featherweight title on Sunday, Dec. 18 at the Mielparque Hall in Osaka, Japan.

“I’m confident with Salvana. He is in good shape. We are looking for an upset,” said manager Dexter “Wang Yu” Tan, who arrived today in Osaka together with Salvana and Sanman Stable chief trainer Romeo “Dodong” Desabille.

The 20-year old Salvana is already weighing 128 lbs.

“I’m happy for another opportunity that Sanman Promotions has given me. I will do my best not to disappoint them and bring home the WBC Youth world featherweight title,” said Salvana.

Salvana (11W-2L-0D-5 KOs) last won via a 1st round technical knockout against Lowell Saguisa at the Makati Square Boxing Arena in Makati City last April 30.

However, Salvana also lost by a first round TKO to Andrew Moloney last August 3 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The 21-year old Uehara, on the other hand, is undefeated with 10 straight wins with six knockouts.

In his last outing, Uehara won by a unanimous decision against Katsuhiko Kanno last Sept. 4 at the Yodogawa Ward Center in Osaka. He earlier stopped Ramly Pasaribu by a 2nd round TKO last May 8 at Mielparque Hall in Osaka.

The championship fight is promoted by Apollo Yoshio of Apollo Promotions.

Pitted in the main supporting bout are bantamweights Tatsuya Ikemizu (13-2-0) and Piched Chianawa (5-6-0) for 8 rounds.
